Long-Tailed Duck

The long-tailed duck is a rare visitor in our area, but this female seems to be perfectly content with the river she has found nearby and has been there for over the past month. While long-tailed ducks are usually found in the far north and northern coasts, I wonder how she has ended up in what seems to be such an usual spot.

I think most people can relate to this duck at some point in life - finding themselves where they might not expect to be. Rest assured…God knows exactly where we are and where we are going!

Psalm 37:23-24 “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.”

Proverbs 20:24 “The Lord directs our steps, so why try to understand everything along the way?”

Isaiah 48:17 “I am God, your God, who teaches you how to live right and well. I show you what to do, where to go.”

Just as this rare duck has caused joy and blessing to the many birders who have enjoyed seeing her, God can use our unexpected places to bless others as we contently enjoy where God directs us!
